Yay to finding this pic my grandma took of me (that I thought I accidentally threw out! ) and boo to the quality that was 110 cartridge cameras.
Taken back when I was...8? 9? Whatever. I had no fear of anything. Mice, frogs, snakes, bugs, whatever. I had it.
This was my Eastern Garter snake that used to live under the garage foundation at my grandparents' trailer up in Willimantic, Maine. He was different from other snakes: I'd tap on the foundation and he'd come out to see me. He never tried to slither away. I could sit on the front lawn and let him crawl down the back of my shirt and come out a pant leg. (No I didn't get my jollies, you perverts!) Just a really cool snake. Sad to say, the next week we had a frost. And snakes don't take cold well. I found him above ground, dead. (No, not in a torpor...DEAD.) That was one sad day for me.
I never named that snake. Strange.

neat memory and the story was interesting. So many pics are posted with no history it makes them less interesting!
